📋 Overview

E-Shram Card is a government initiative to create a national database of unorganised sector workers in India. Workers who register get a Universal Account Number (UAN) and an E-Shram Card. The card comes with accidental death and disability insurance cover of ₹2 lakh under PM Suraksha Bima Yojana. The E-Shram database helps the government deliver welfare benefits directly to workers. As of 2026, over 30 crore workers have registered on the E-Shram portal.

👤 Eligibility Criteria

Any unorganised worker between 16 and 59 years of age can register. This includes construction workers, domestic workers, street vendors, agricultural labourers, fishermen, ASHA workers, mid-day meal workers, auto drivers, security guards, and other informal workers. The worker must not be a member of EPFO or ESIC. Income tax payers are also not eligible. Aadhaar must be linked to an active mobile number.

  1. Visit the official E-Shram portal at eshram.gov.in
  2. Click on 'Register on E-Shram' button
  3. Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and verify OTP
  4. Enter your Aadhaar number and complete verification
  5. Fill in personal details, occupation, address and bank information
  6. Submit the form and download your E-Shram Card (UAN Card)
  7. You can also register at the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) if you need help
